Central
Skagit Medic One
Mount Vernon, Washington
Central Skagit Medic One is the ground
ambulance team that responds to 9-1-1 calls for more than 400
square miles of the Central
Skagit Valley of Washington state. This region boasts some
of the most beautiful scenery in the Pacific Northwest, including
world-famous tulip fields. It also includes one of the toughest
traffic routes in the state. The rapidly growing and diverse
population makes emergency response challenging in this varied
terrain, so Central Skagit works closely with Airlift Northwest,
especially in responding to traffic accidents along the I-5
corridor. “Airlift
Northwest has been phenomenal to partner with,” said Ambulance
Operations Manager Bill Holstein. “When we’re responding
to a multiple-vehicle accident on I-5, it’s always great
to see the helicopter land and those blue jumpsuits coming down
the middle of the freeway.” Central Skagit falls under
the umbrella of the Skagit County Medic One system that cares
for all citizens and visitors to Skagit County and provides community
education on child safety, bike safety, CPR and first aid.
