Jenny
Johnson, RN
Ketchikan, Alaska
When Jenny Johnson came to Ketchikan in
1979, she started working at the hospital for what she
thought would be one
month. Now, 27 years later, she is still there. She remembers
when, in the early 1980s, Airlift Northwest came to Ketchikan.
Medical transport became much easier. Little did she know
that one day she, too, would need the service. On May 4,
2004, Jenny went into cardiac arrest. With quick response
from hospital staff, she was resuscitated and transported
by Airlift Northwest to the University of Washington Medical
Center, where she was implanted with a pacemaker-defibrillator.
She went home a couple of days later, on Mother’s Day,
and returned to full-time nursing. “I am thankful to
so many folks for their care and assistance during this medical
emergency,” Jenny says. “I would like to express
personal gratitude and my professional appreciation for Airlift
Northwest. Thank you, Dr. Copass and staff, for bringing
your excellence to this Southeast Alaska community.”
