Yakima
AMR
Yakima, Washington
When a Yakima County resident calls 911
with a medical emergency, paramedics and EMTs from American
Medical Response (AMR)
answer the call. The nationwide, private ambulance service
provides ALS and BLS services to Yakima County, the second
largest county in Washington state, with about 60 employees
operating from four stations. The AMR staff provides emergency
service for four area hospitals and arranges for airlift
transportation when needed. With its mix of urban and rural
areas, diverse cultural life, and a rapidly increasing population — including
seasonal and migrant workers — Yakima can be
a challenging area to serve. “
They do what can be very tough work with such positive attitudes
and consistently high standards,” says Nick Morrison,
Director of Washington Clinical Services for Airlift Northwest. “And
that makes a big difference to us, honestly.” Approximately
200 of the calls Yakima AMR runs each year culminate in a
patient being transported by Airlift Northwest.
